Ingredients

  • Green Moong - 1 Kg
  • Chana Dal - 2.5 Kg
  • Toor Dal - 2.5 Kg
  • Ghee - 1.5 Kg
  • Onion - 3.5 Kg
  • Green Chillies - 250 gms
  • Ginger - 300 gms
  • Kothmbir - 1 Big
  • Dhaniya Powder - 200 gms
  • Jeera Powder - 100 gms
  • Degi mirchi powder - 100 gms
  • Jeera - 100 gms
  • Dahi - 1 Kg
  • Birista - 1 Kg
  • Bedgi Mirchi - 50 gms
  • Hing - 50 gms

Preparation

  • Soak all dal in water overnight ( or a couple of hours )
  • Cook dal with water 1.5 inches above dal level
  • Add ghee, haldi, salt and cook
  • Grind onion, green chillies, ginger and kothmbir to fine paste
  • In another vessel, add some ghee and add above paste and cook
  • Cool paste till the green colour becomes dark green and all water is gone
  • Add dahi and mix
  • Add hing, dhaniya powder, jeera powder, degi mirch powder and mix
  • Cook for some time. Add birista and cook
  • Add above paste to dal and cook
  • For tadka, heat ghee in a vessel, add bedgi mirchi and saute till dark red, then add kadipatta, jeera and saute.
  • Add birista and saute
  • Mix with dal
