Ingredients

  • Palappam Mix - 5.5 Kg ( should be 7.5 )
  • Black Vatana - 6 Kg
  • Onion - 2 Kg
  • Ginger - 100 gms
  • Garlic - 100 gms
  • Coconut - 
  • Dry Coconut - 
  • Kadipatta - 3 lots
  • Kothmbir - 2 big
  • Oil - 1 Lt
  • Salt, Sugar, turmeric

Preparation

  • Mix 500 gms Palappam in 850 ml lukewarm water, 4tbsp sugar and little salt and grind in mixer for 1 minute. Keep batter aside to ferment for 1 hour
  • Soak vatana in water for 12 hours
  • In a vessel, add vatana, water, salt and cook
  • Take aside around 1 Kg of vatana and grind in mixer into paste
  • In another vessel, add 1 lt oil and heat. Add onions and saute
  • Add garlic, turmeric and saute
  • Add kadipatta and saute
  • Add vatana paste and mix
  • Add vatana stock water and mix
  • Add coconut paste and mix
  • Bring the broth to boil
